“What,” I started.
“DRIVE!” Aerick screamed.
I didn’t question him.
I turned the key, shifted gears, and floored it.
I had just turned and was about to merge onto the nearby stretch of road when a black figure came flying toward the vehicle.
“GO!” Aerick screamed.
“I can’t go any faster!” I cried. “I—”
The figure slammed into the back of the truck.
The vehicle jolted.
I pressed on the accelerator and grimaced as we went sailing onto the frontage.
“What the hell is that thing?” I asked, scanning my rear and side windows as we shot away from the rest stop.
“Banshee,” Aerick breathed.
“Banshee?” I asked.
“Yeah. You know. Scary black things? Screech to stun before killing their—”
The apparition appeared in the passenger-side mirror.
“Get the gun,” I said.
“What?” he asked.
“My gun! In the console.”
He scrambled into the front seat just in time for the figure to make its appearance in the passenger side window—bearing, upon its white face, the countenance of hell. Red eyes and a long, distended mouth filled with nothing but darkness greeted me as yet another shriek pierced the night, cracking the window and sending sonic vibrations throughout the cab.
Aerick lifted the gun.
The banshee pivoted.
He rolled down the window and fired a shot into the night.
“You’re not gonna be able to hit these things on the highway,” I said.
“You think!” he cried. He fired two more shots as the figure lurched into view, but apparently missed, as it rolled and spun away from the vehicle.
I looked up to see the oncoming ramp materialize into view.
“I’m getting on the highway,” I said.
“Are you sure you—”
He didn’t have the chance to finish.
I merged.
I floored it.
We went shooting onto the highway at a speed of at one-hundred-miles-per-hour.
Aerick had just managed to clip his seatbelt into place before we gained air, then landed on the roadtop. The resulting force sent his head into the dashboard.
“You ok?” I asked.
“Yeah,” he said, grimacing as he lifted his head.
“Is it gone?”
“I think it is,” he said, lowering the gun before proceeding to roll up the window. I rapidly slowed our pace to the standard seventy-per-hour and turned my head just in time to see a sliver of blood pooling from Aerick’s hairline.
“Aerick,” I said.
“It’s nothing,” he replied, flicking the safety on the revolver before tucking it back into the console. “Minor scratch. Nothing more.”
I directed my attention to the road and blindly reached over to him.
When his hand caught mine, I squeezed and exhaled the pent-up breath I’d been holding.
“Sorry I slammed your head into the dash,” I said.
“Sorry a banshee was trying to get up on my dick,” he replied.
We laughed, though I already knew it was going to be a long night.

We threw caution to the wind and decided to check into a nearby hotel when we realized there was still a definitive possibility that we could be followed. Together, in the bathroom—he seated on the countertop, I on the toilet—I tended to the flesh wound along his head while he sulked and complained like a kid.
“That hurts,” he grumbled.
“Of course it does,” I said. “It’s peroxide.”
“Why do I even need it?”
“So it doesn’t get infected.”
“Gee. Thanks, Mom.”
I chuckled and finished dabbing the blood away before reaching for a nearby band-aid. “I’m sorry about earlier,” I said, sliding it over his cut.
“Wasn’t your fault,” Aerick replied. “If anyone’s to blame, it’s me. I’m the one who walked into its lair.”
“Its lair?”
“You ever heard those horror stories about rest stops? You know, the ones that begin with someone pulling over because they have to take a wiz? They’re kind of like that. It starts with them walking into a seemingly-empty visitor’s center and then them going into the bathroom. Then something happens. They think they’re being followed, or they get creeped out by something, so they go into the stall, thinking they’ll be safe? Then they see a pair of shoes in the stall beside them and their mind starts to go into overdrive.”
“You’re freaking me out,” I said.
“As I should be. Those people—they think they’re being paranoid because they’re in the middle of nowhere and because they’ve always been told not to go into rest stops alone. You know—you’ll get chopped up, flushed down the toilet, raped up your ass and mouth and any other hole they can make. It’s all there, ingrained in your subconscious. And no matter how realistic they think they are, they start panicking. Freaking the fuck out. Because something feels wrong, no matter how rationale they try to be. So they do their business as quickly as possible. Then, when they leave to wash their hands, and the person still hasn’t come out of the stall, they leave as fast as they can. That’s what I’m talking about. That’s what I’m saying.”
“You’re saying those stories—”
“Hold some merit to them? Yeah. They do.” Aerick grimaced as I applied a band-aid to his face. “It’s not just your momma trying to scare you. It’s because things happen.”
“And that banshee?”
“Was probably just hanging out there for the night. Or month. Or year. They can disappear at will, you know?”
“I didn’t.”
Smirking, Aerick hopped off the countertop and stood face-to-face with me, so close that I could feel his breath pooling from his mouth and onto my face. “Jason,” he said.
“Yeah?” I asked.
“You know how you could make it up to me? I mean, the whole bashing-my-head-into-the-headboard thing?”
“What’s that?”
“Kiss me. Please.”
“Aerick—”
“I know I sound pathetic,” he said. “But it’s been so long. So so long. And you. It…” He paused. Whether or not he’d been aware that he’d been reaching out to me was up for debate, but when he set his hand on the side of my ribcage, it didn’t matter. He drew closer, pressed his other hand on my opposite side, and closed the distance between us.
His lips were so close. It’d only take one inch for the two of us to—
I didn’t get to finish.
Instinct took over.
Whether I wanted to comfort or satisfy him I did not know. The moment our lips touched I threw all inhibitions out the window. I ravished his mouth with mine and gripped his shoulders as his lips sought out my cheeks, my chin, then the curve of my neck. I groaned as he nipped at the soft flesh curving along my shoulder and moaned as his hand slithered under my shirt to take hold of my lower back, sighing as his fingers slid below my waistband to cup hold of my ass.
“Shit,” he breathed, kissing my face, my chin, my neck. “You’re so fucking hot.”
I responded by grabbing his hand and tugging him out of the bathroom, toward the single bed that inhabited the living space.
I fell back and allowed him full access of my body, sighing as he lifted my shirt and kissed my abdomen, my navel, then slid his tongue up my chest and to one hard nipple. Its dance around my areola was nothing short of heaven as his stubble grazed my skin. I bucked against him, wrapping my legs around his jean-clad waist, and pulled him against me for another long, hard kiss, our tongues probing, then entering one another’s mouths with abandon I’d not felt for ages.
“Jason,” he breathed.
“Aerick,” I replied.
He stripped my shirt off, then did the same for his before leaning back and thrusting his hardness against m
y ass through his jeans. “You’re sure you want to do this?” he asked.
“Yeah. Fuck me. Please.”
He reached down, undid the clasp of my belt, then snared his fingers along the zipper of my jeans before pulling my pants and boxers down and swallowing me whole.
I could’ve screamed.
His mouth was so hot.
He chuckled, instantaneously causing me to shiver and buck against his mouth, as he bobbed his head along my length and using the mess of spit and pre-come to slick his hand. He penetrated me with a finger and I gasped, grabbing my head and forcing him down on my cock.
“Fuck fuck fuck,” I groaned.
“Like that?” he asked as he came up from blowing me, spit drenching his chin.
“Yeah.”
“Then you’re gonna love this.”
He flipped me onto my stomach and ran his tongue from my balls all the way up to the small of my ass.
I gasped.
He groaned.
He slid two fingers into me and leaned forward to suck on the back of my neck.
“Tell me how much you want it,” he said as he licked the side of my face, capturing the side of my lips between his and briefly shoving his tongue into my mouth.
“I want it,” I said.
“Beg for it.”
“Please give it to me.”
“Tell me how much you want it.”
“Please, Aerick. I need you so bad.”
“What do you need?”
“Your dick.”
“Where do you need it?”
“My ass. Dear fuck I need it in my ass.”
He backed away and shucked his pants. I looked over my shoulder just in time to see him spit into his hand and slick his dick.
I lowered my head.
He straddled my back.
I spread my knees and groaned as he sunk into me.
“Fuuuuuuuuck,” I groaned, biting down on the pillow as he slid into me with one long stroke.
“God baby,” he said, slapping my ass as he pulled out, then pushed back into me. “Your ass is so fucking tight.”
“Fuck me Aerick. Don’t make me wait.”
He grabbed my hips and began to thrust into me—first slowly, then with increasing speed. His hips worked like pistons and his balls slapped against my ass, reveling in the pleasure spreading throughout our beings. I reached down to try and touch myself, but Aerick grabbed my hand and pinned me down, thrusting into me with long, hard and even strokes.
“No touching,” he whispered.
“Please,” I groaned.
“I’m gonna make you come without touching yourself.”
“How—”
He slammed his dick into me so hard I thought I’d scream.
I thrust back against him and groaned.
“Sheee-iiiiit,” he howled, leaning back on his thighs and thrusting in me as hard and as fast as he could. “So tight so tight so mother-fucking tight.”
“Fuck me harder,” I said. “Fuck me—”
His cock swelled.
I thought he would come.
Instead, I felt a bristle of hair spread out along my legs and grimaced as he hissed through his teeth.
Was he—
Changing?
While he was fucking me?
His cock thickened inside me, expanding in a way I had never thought possible. I groaned, then pushed back against him as substantially-hairier palms shoved me into the bed before he began to ride me like a jackhammer. I knew he couldn’t go full wolf here, but this was too hot and it felt too good to stop him
“Jason,” he growled, his cock throbbing in my ass.
“Come on my face,” I said.
He pulled out.
I rolled over.
I watched his silver-haired hands jack his cock three times before he came all over my face.
I reveled in the smell and taste of his come as it coated my lips and ran down my neck, desperate for the release I craved when he bent down and swallowed me whole. I came instantly, firing shot after shot down his throat. I gripped his head, forced him down my entire length, and sighed as the waves of pleasure rolled through me as he bobbed his head up and down until my cock softened in his mouth.
He pulled back, kissed me, licked his come from my face and kissed me some more.
When I opened my eyes I found that the gold rims around his green eyes looked like golden fire, and that the scruff on his cheeks, chin and above his lips had thickened.
“Never go full-wolf,” the man growled. “Especially not when having sex.”
I leaned back, collapsed, and allowed him to clean my body with his tongue.
This… was nothing short of bliss.

The Howler inside him eventually calmed once the post-sex high began to dissipate. The hair on his body shrunk back into his skin, his eyes returned to their original jade hue. His cock—which, as I’d suspected, had thickened with his transformation—returned to its normal size and lost the developing knot I’d felt even in the throes of passion. We lay there for what seemed like hours when truly it was only minutes before we rose and crammed ourselves in the shower together—kissing, nuzzling, and holding each other like lovers who’d not seen one another for the longest time.
By the time we returned to bed, I was feeling both exhilarated and guilty. I thought of Guy and his feelings for me, then of Aerick and how easily I’d fallen for his fine smile and cocky charm.
There’s nothing wrong with this, I kept telling myself. He’s warm flesh.
A willing conscript to my needs and desire as a Kaldr man.
The A/C blew a steady stream of cool, if somewhat-noisy air into the room and onto our naked skin, disrupting the soft sheet upon the small of Aerick’s back and the top of my stomach. I sighed, reached out to rub his shoulder, and grimaced when he recoiled, shrinking further into the sheets.
I’d made him cold.
I’d worn him out.
But most of all, I’d used him.
However—I had to keep reminding myself that the game was played equally. No glamouring had occurred, both parties had consented, and though I was the one who initiated, he had not pulled away. I could not cry wrong on this one in the slightest.
We’d both wanted what had occurred.
Now that it was over, I was left to wonder if it had been right.
Rolling over, I snared my arm around his hip and pulled him closer to share the heat I had stolen from him. He squirmed at first, as I’d expected—and like anyone would from a cold impression—but he eventually melted into me and sighed, as if I were the sun that brought warmth to his cold and unforgiving world.
“Thank you,” I whispered, pressing a kiss to his shoulder blade.
“Hmm?” I heard him mumble.
“Nothing,” I said. “Just go back to sleep.”
Though there was no force added to my words, he immediately softened beneath me.
After lying down, I stared at the distant A/C machine and closed my eyes.
By light of the bedside lamp we slept.

Little was said the following morning when we rose and began our morning preparations. We exchanged places in the shower, brushed our teeth, dressed, then made our way into the lobby to return our key before we resumed our drive to central Texas, this time with Aerick in the driver’s seat. We stopped and ordered food before we got out of town, and though the burger and fries was enough to settle him, no amount of food could’ve sated the frazzled nerves that consumed me.
“You want a fry?” he asked, nudging one in my direction.
“I don’t need to eat,” I said. “I already fed.”
“Yeah, but from what I understand, it’s still a luxury.”
It was, and for that reason I accepted the salty morsel without question. I chewed the first one for several moments, then accepted a second before asking, “Aerick? Were you ok with what happened last night?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
he frowned.
“I mean… it happened suddenly.”
“Yeah.”
“And we really didn’t discuss—”
“Who would top and who would bottom?” He chuckled and took a swig of his diet cola. When he turned to see the look on my face, he said, “I’m joking, Jason.”
“I know, but—”
“What. We were horny. I wanted sex. And you provided. Nothing wrong with that, right?”
“That’s what I’m trying to figure out,” I said.
“Look.” Aerick paused, adjusted the air conditioning streaming out of the dash, and cast a glance at me. “Say you did want to glamour me for whatever reason.”
“Yeah.”
“Would you even know how?”
I opened my mouth to speak, then stopped, frowning. “I,” I started, “duh… don’t know.”
“There’s the answer to your question. You don’t know how to glamour me, so there’s no way you possibly could’ve.”
“Unless I did it by accident.”
“Well, let me tell you something—what happened last night wasn’t no accident. And let me tell you.” He let out a long exhale and grinned. “That was, by far, the best sex I have ever had. You know it’s good when you start to turn wolf.”
“What would’ve happened if you had?”
“Other than me knotting you like you were my bitch?” Aerick laughed. “Honestly… I don’t know. I’ve never turned while having sex. But, then again, I was never the one doing the fucking. Guess I just got so into it that I let my guard down.”
“So you’re saying you can turn at time other than the full moon?”
“Obviously. It’s just that it can’t be controlled. At least, I can’t, anyway.”
“There are others who can?”
“Pierre was pretty good at it, as you already saw. But others… they can go full wolf, back, then full wolf again without even blinking.”
“I thought it required a lot of painful physical changes?”
“It does, but some people get off on pain. It’s like a kink to them—transforming.”
“Right.”
He took a bite out of his hamburger before setting it down. “If you’re asking if I would’ve hurt you,” he said, “I honestly can’t say. I do, however, want to say that it wouldn’t have been entirely me.”
